Have you ever wondered what type of household products great literary minds might use? Keep reading to find out who might use an espresso maker or even a whistle! (Add more about Brett Stern here!!!!!)
Carl Sagan
The beloved astronomer and author of Contact and Pale Blue Dot: A vision of the Human Future in Space was open about his love of marijuana. As he said in his hit TV show Cosmos: "If you wish to make an apple pie from scratch, you must first invent the universe." Well, Mr. Sagan, if you wish to make an apple pipe, you must first ask Brett Stern.
Mr. Sagan wrote, "The illegality of cannabis is outrageous, an impediment to full utilization of a drug which helps produce the serenity and insight, sensitivity and fellowship so desperately needed in this increasingly mad and dangerous world."
Alexandre Dumas
Alexandre Dumas is a titan of fiction, writing such books as The Three Musketeers and The Count of Monte Cristo, but few know he also enjoyed his fair share of marijuana. He even joined a club dedicated to the stuff. The club's name was "Club des Hachichins" or "Hashish Club" and its members "drank strong coffee, liberally laced with hashish." If only Dumas knew he could have used that espresso maker as a pipe!
Maya Angelou
Not only one of the most important writers of our time, Maya Angelou was also a performer, a civil rights activist, a professor, and a journalist. None of that stopped her from having a good time. Ms. Angelou was quoted saying that, as a young woman, she "smoked with abandon." We imagine Ms. Angelou would've enjoyed smoking out of a hummingbird feeder as she told us just why the caged bird sings.
Stephen King
Stephen King is famous for concocting such nightmares as Carrie, The Shining, and Pet Sematary. In an interview with High Times King stated he didn't just approve of weed, he thought "it should be a cottage industry." What pipe could be better for the greater of sewer-dwelling clown Pennywise than a toilet plunger pipe? Remember, if you smoke enough, "you'll float too."
Susan Sontag
Famous critic and essayist of the twentieth century, Susan Sontag is famous for Illness as Metaphor, Regarding the Pain of Other, and On Photography and many others. She also supported the recreational use of weed at its most controversial time, stating it was much less harmful than alcohol. The New York Times Book Review named Ms. Sontag one of the most influential critics of her generation and we agree. Thus, we suggest to her the whistle pipe.
Susan Sontag wrote, "I think a society which is addicted to a very destructive and unhealthy drug - namely alcohol - certainly has no write to [...] censor the use of a drug which is much less harmful."
