To sip or to mix: Celebrate National Liqueur Day

Happy National Liqueur Day! No, not liquor as in spirits, LIQUEUR, also known as schnapps or cordials, which are typically sweeter and flavored with fruits, herbs, spices, flowers, or nuts.

Liqueurs are great alone or as a mixer in your favorite cocktail. And with the change in seasons, there are many liqueurs that feature prominently in yummy winter-inspired drinks.

Recipes

Cranberry Ginger Fizz (Portland Potables)
1 oz Crater Lake gin
1 oz Stone Barn cranberry liqueur
1/2 oz New Deal ginger liqueur
1 oz Starvation Alley unsweetened cranberry juice
2 oz Ginger beer (such as Fever-Tree)

Frosty The Snowman (Eastside Distilling)
2 oz Holiday Egg Nog Liqueur
1 oz Portland Potato Vodka
1/4 oz Grand Marnier
Ice

Fall From The Hood (Eastside Distilling)
1 oz Holiday Spiced Liqueur
2 oz Burnside Bourbon
3 oz Hot Apple Cider
Splash lemon juice
Garnish with apple slice and cinnamon stick

Let It Snow (From New Deal Distilling)
1 oz New Deal vodka
1 bar spoon Hot Monkey Pepper Flavored vodka
1 pkg Treehouse Chocolate Co. Spiced Drinking Chocolate
6 oz hot water or milk
Whipped cream, orange peel, cinnamon for garnish

Harvest Moon (From New Deal Distilling)
2 oz Distiller’s Workshop Rye Whiskey
3/4 oz Cascadia d’Amore American Bitter Liqueur
1/2 oz Raft Lemon Ginger Botanical Cocktail + Soda Syrup
1/2 oz lemon juice
Hot water
Cinnamon stick for garnish
Clove-studded lemon slice for garnish
