The Tall Trees of Paris book release party

Sunlight streamed through the open garage door of Portland, Oregon's Gigantic Brewing Company’s Tap Room and Champagne Lounge last Saturday, illuminating gorgeous stacks of books, delicious hors d’oeuvres, and a multitude of prints from several artists featured in Matt Wagner’s newest book, The Tall Trees of Paris. Gigantic Brewing is a true gem, off the beaten path but well worth the trip, and familiar faces as well as new friends came to celebrate contemporary French art with us.

Some of our readers who already own Wagner's The Tall Trees of Portland and The Tall Trees of Tokyo came to complete their set, while others purchased the entire set at the event! It’s not surprising—the artwork in these books can easily trigger a collector’s instinct, and the set looks so good together . . .

In addition to the prints from Tall Trees of Paris artists, Gigantic displayed art by Tall Trees of Portland artists Souther Salazar and Maryanna Hoggatt, who designed the labels for Gigantic’s Vivid IPA and Hearts & Stars Saison, both currently on tap! Previous Gigantic labels were designed by Tall Trees of Tokyo artists Shohei Otomo and Tsuyoshi Nigamushi and Tall Trees of Portland artists J Shea, Cole Gerst, Martin Ontiveros, AJ Fosik, and Jon MacNair. You can check out label designs and buy posters of your favorites here.

Gigantic is well known for their top-notch beers and gorgeous labels, but the tap room also happens to be a champagne lounge! In honor of Tall Trees of Paris, we invited two of Portland’s premier champagne sabreurs to help us open a few bottles in style. You can see these masters in action here.

If you just can’t get enough of the phenomenal French artists featured in Tall Trees of Paris (and we don’t blame you), you’re in luck because one of them—Christelle Enault—has art on display at Hellion Gallery all month! We hope you can stop by Gigantic Brewing and Hellion Gallery to enjoy some of the best art France and Portland has to offer.

Thanks again for your support and enthusiasm!
