Beyond Mint Juleps

It’s Derby season in Kentucky! Try this recipe from Doc Crow’s Southern Smokehouse and Raw Bar for a taste of Louisville to serve while you watch the iconic horse race this Saturday. Located on Whiskey Row in downtown Louisville, Doc Crow’s is known for rare bourbon flights, over-the-top comfort foods and Southern hospitality.

Doc Crow’s Bourbini

1 oz. Heaven Hill 6-year bourbon
2 dashes peach bitters
.5 oz. Mathilde Peche peach liqueur
Sparkling wine

Sprig of mint, for garnish

In a cocktail shaker, add bourbon, bitters and liqueur with ice. Shake. Strain into a champagne flute, top with sparkling wine, and garnish with mint sprig. (Cocktail recipe by Doc Crow’s beverage director Jacquelyn Zykan)

The Doc Crow's Bourbini

Jacquelyn Zykan is bar director over the cocktail programs at Doc Crow’s Southern Smokehouse and Raw Bar and La Coop Bistro: à Vins, has earned the title of Certified Specialist of Spirits (CSS) from the Society of Wine Educators. Known for her stylish approach to cocktail classics, she is the featured bartender at the Kentucky Derby Museum’s interactive Urban Bourbon Trail Exhibition, and she has contributed several recipes to the Four Roses company website. Zykan is also the St. Germain liqueur brand ambassador for Kentucky.
