On September 12th, at 7:30pm Tilikum Crossing, Bridge of the People: Portland's Bridges and a New Icon authors Donald MacDonald and Ira Nadel will be in conversation with Portland architecture writer, Randy Gragg, at Powell's City of Books 1005 W. Burnside St, Portland, OR. As the architect of the bridge, MacDonald is uniquely poised to tell the story of Tilikum Crossing. September 12th marks the third third anniversary of the bridge opening, so this a great way to celebrate Portland's newest bridge!

About the authors
Donald MacDonald: International award-winning architect Donald MacDonald is the designer of the Tilikum Crossing Bridge. He also designed the east span of the San Francisco-Oakland Bay Bridge and was the first architect to work on the Golden Gate Bridge since its original construction. With Ira Nadel, he is the co-author of Golden Gate Bridge: History and Design of an Icon, Bay Bridge: History and Design of a New Icon, and Alcatraz: History and Design of a Landmark. He lives in San Francisco.
Ira Nadel: In addition to co-authoring works with MacDonald, Ira Nadel is a professor of English at University of British Columbia, a Fellow of the Royal Society of Canada, and the recipient of numerous awards and prizes. He has lectured around the world and is the author of a number of other books, including biographies of Leonard Cohen, Tom Stoppard, Ezra Pound, David Mamet, and Virginia Woolf. He lives in Vancouver, BC.
