Welcome back to "The Boozy Book-Lovers Favorite Reads and Drinks," where we pair DIY drinks with our favorite Overcup Press titles.
If you’re in the mood for a crisp summer drink that’s bright, lemony, and earthy all at the same time, look no further. This week, we’re pairing a Summer Shandy and the perfect book to teach you where you can find one all over the USA, The Field Guide to Drinking in America by Niki Ganong. The alcohol laws in America can be confusing, but they don’t have to be! This book is educational, but it’s also joyful and lighthearted, making it a perfect pairing for the notoriously fun Summer Shandy.
What You'll Need:
- A hefeweizen or light beer (no IPAs)
- Lemonade
- Simple Syrup
- *Fresh lemon wedge for garnish (optional)
Step 1: As a general rule of thumb, the ratio for beer to lemonade in a shandy is 1:1. Add one cup of beer to your glass.
Step 2: Measure one cup of lemonade and add that to your glass.
Step 3: Add one shot of simple syrup.
Step 4: Stir all ingredients together and add a lemon wedge for garnish.
Step Five: Enjoy with your copy of The Field Guide to Drinking in America!
