Maryanna Hoggatt, author of children’s picture book Tolly, is known for her work as a sculptor and photographer. Tolly, and her other works translate many internal battles and feelings, as well as her inspirations and aspirations. It is this connection that allowed for her main character within Tolly to be born. Tolly delves into the importance of imagination and bravery through a young, imaginative raccoon. By merging her vast artistic ability and writing, Hoggatt is able to spark a lesson about bravery and defending one’s dreams.
